Welcome to the web site for the City of Oxford Society of Model Engineers (COSME), a non-profit making organisation. We are based in Oxfordshire in the UK. We meet regularly throughout the year. Our members have a wide range of interests and experience in many aspects of model engineering. A major activity is operating the Cutteslowe Park Miniature Railway (CPMR) within a public park in the City of Oxford. This railway has been built and developed by the voluntary efforts of members of COSME.

Cutteslowe Park Miniature Railway

The Cutteslowe Park Miniature Railway is situated in the public Cutteslowe Park in the north of the City of Oxford just off the A40 Ring Road. Information on our location can be found here

There are two tracks on our railway on which we run passenger carrying trains pulled by steam or diesel locomotives. The elevated track is built to cater for 3½" and 5" gauges and the ground level track is for 5" and 7¼ gauges. More information about the railway can be found here.

Reopening Information

The Cutteslowe Park Miniature Railway will again be running locomotives for rides on Sunday 30th and Monday 31st of August (Bank Holiday), Sunday 6th and Sunday 20th of September and Sunday 4th, Sunday 18th and Sunday 25th of October. These dates are all subject to any new Covid 19 regulations.
Our revised 2020 full timetable can be downloaded here.
We will be offering a limited service on the Ground Level route only and the picnic area in the middle of our site will remain closed as will the raised level railway. We will however be operating under strict regulations. Anyone showing signs of Covid 19 virus should not enter our site or ride the railway, social distancing must be observed, we will prefer card payments, hands must be sanitized on entry and exit of our site, face coverings should be worn, any instructions given by the railway staff must be obeyed, only one family to occupy a carriage at a time. We anticipate that the loading and unloading times will increase as all carriages will have to be wiped down after every trip. We also reserve the right to further suspend operations if the government changes the regulations at any time. All of the carriages will be fitted with protective screens at the front and hand gel will be available on site.

Please note that the railway will be open from 13-30hrs to 17-00hrs except for the last week in October when we will be closing at 16-30hrs and as usual all openings are subject to suitable weather and availability of staff.

To check the railway is open on running days please call 07503 314131.

Tickets are £1.25 for adults and children over 2. Children under 2 free accompanied by a fare paying adult.  Tickets are obtained from the ticket office at the track and we prefer you to pay by debit/credit card.
